Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing’s Camden McLellan has finished fifth overall at the MXGP of China, with Guillem Farres close behind in seventh. The duo overcame the sweltering heat of Shanghai to deliver strong results at the penultimate round of the 2025 MX2 World Championship.

The Shanghai International Off-Road Circuit was purpose built in the Fengxian District of Shanghai and hosted the penultimate round of the season. Track conditions were ideal despite the soaring temperatures, and both Camden and Guillem acclimatised themselves well to the unique racing environment.

In race one, McLellan delivered a race-long charge from outside the top 10 to finish in seventh. Encouraged by his performance, and with several refinements made to his TF 250-X, Camden headed to the gate for the second moto. The South African benefitted from a much better start, and he moved up to fifth by mid-race. After keeping the leaders in sight for the remaining laps, McLellan crossed the line in fifth to secure fifth overall. The points gained move him up to fifth in the championship standings.

Following his strong fourth-place finish one week ago in Turkiye, Farres was understandably eager to build upon that result in China. In the opening race, the Spaniard held seventh for the entire moto until McLellan pushed him back to eighth on the penultimate lap. Guillem enjoyed a much-improved start in the second moto, and ran fifth until Camden once again pushed him back a place. Farres held onto sixth in the race for seventh overall, maintaining eighth in the series standings with one round remaining.

The conclusion of the 2025 MX2 World Championship takes place next weekend at the MXGP of Australia in Darwin.

Camden McLellan

“A hard weekend but it ended on a positive note. I didn’t have the best gate position for the races and I had to fight from the back in race one for seventh. With the team, we made some changes for the second moto and they really made a difference. I had a better start and at the end I was really close to third. So, I’m happy with that and we have a good feeling ahead of the final round in Australia.”

Guillem Farres

“My weekend has been pretty good here in China. I was fifth in the qualifying race so that was decent, and then for race day today it was really hot and humid. My start in the first moto wasn’t the best and I ended up eighth in that one. We changed the bike a little for the second moto and I felt strong out there. I was running fifth early on and then Camden passed me. My results improved from race one to race two so that was good, and now I’m looking forward to Australia.”

Vincent Bereni – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager

“It’s been a tough Grand Prix in the heat. From race one to race two, both riders improved their results, so that was positive. We don’t have many flyaway races and at each one, the whole team learns a lot. We have one more Grand Prix and with what we’ve learned this weekend, we can apply it in Australia, and have our riders challenging for the podium.”
