The Triumph Daytona 660 was victorious today at Thruxton, as Harrison Dessoy (PHR Performance Triumph) claimed his first-ever National Sportbike Championship win this afternoon, at the sixth round of the series at Thruxton in Hampshire.

In Saturday’s opening race, Dessoy crossed the line fifth, but it was today’s race where the youngster shone and over the 14 laps he fought hard with a competitive field, where lap by lap the positions changed within the front group.

Right from the start Dessoy was in the mix and never dropped back further than third place, despite challenges from his Sportbike rivals. With the pack sometimes five-abreast coming into corners, Dessoy fended off fellow Triumph-mounted Thomas Strudwick, who was also hunting down a podium spot in the early stages.

By the ninth lap Dessoy kept his Triumph Daytona 660 ahead of the field and was edging out a gap lap-by-lap, to eventually cross the line as the race winner, 1.596s ahead of the second place finisher.

Despite a strong showing at the start Strudwick crossed the line 11th. The Macadam Triumph Factory Racing squad saw Lewis Smart finish 13th, with Brodie Gawith 19th and it was a DNF for Jayden Martin. Unfortunately Katie Hand was absent from both races, missing out of qualifying by just 0.7s.

The National Sportbike Championship returns to action in a few weeks time at Cadwell Park across the August Bank Holiday weekend (23-25 August).

Harrison Dessoy - PHR Performance Triumph:

“Wow what a race!’ I think is the only thing to say! I said to my two mechanics, Leon and Micky, that we had a really strong pace riding solo out on track and in this morning’s warm up there was a lot less wind than yesterday's race, so it enabled the opportunity to do that by yourself at a really good pace. In this afternoon’s race it was a good tussle for the first five or six laps, then towards the end I hit the front and managed to string everything together. Today goes to show what we’re really capable of and what we could have been able to have shown at Brands; I’m over the moon for my first-ever Sportbike win and would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all my sponsors!”
